I was excited to read a leaflet that local honey could be a natural remedy for hay fever. I suffer from hay fever and very familiar with the dreadful symptoms which can sometimes ruin my day e.g. sneezing, itchy and sore eyes and throat.  My symptoms normally start in May which is less than 2 weeks away so it’s nearly time to take action. It is always best to start treatment early before you get the symptoms.

When I was young I ate what my parents ate something that I really appreciate now and have carried on this tradition with my children. I mean don’t get me wrong, I do still have the occasional tantrum over eating broccoli but overall my children are pretty adventurous with food.

I treated my husband on his birthday to the “gourmet” package at The Whitebrook in Monmouthshire. As part of our surprise tasting menu, we were served an asparagus dish. Asparagus is a spring seasonal vegetable and not something that I ever buy at home. To be honest I have never been too keen on asparagus and I know now it’s due to how they were prepared when I had them in the past. I have to say, I absolutely loved every mouthful of the asparagus dish at The Whitebrook who have converted me now. It’s also great that our asparagus was locally sourced.

Today is the hottest day of the year so far and it’s even great that we are all at home to enjoy the day.  Most of the day has been spent in the garden soaking up the sun. It’s nice to see our garden spring back to life with beautiful blossoms which are pleasing to the eye.
